One size fits most for a bodystocking: what it means and when to choose 3XL

Almost every bodystocking is sold as one size fits most. What that sizing label does and doesn't mean, when M/L or 3XL fits better, and how to keep such a piece from tearing.

Almost every bodystocking in our range carries the same size designation: one size fits most. This is not a supplier oversight but a product characteristic – it concerns highly stretchable knitwear without closures, zippers, or buttons. However, it's not a guarantee that it will fit everyone, and that's precisely where most disappointment comes from. Below, we explain what this designation does and does not mean, and what else to look at before ordering.

What "one size fits most" means in practice

A bodystocking is a knitted tubular garment that stretches in two directions. This allows one version to cover a wide range, roughly from clothing size 36 to 42, depending on the model. The stretch is not infinite: the more the material has to stretch, the finer the pattern becomes and the higher the tension on the seams and the crotch seam.

More important than your clothing size is your height. A bodystocking is a vertical garment: the length from shoulder to crotch must be correct, otherwise, the whole thing will pull down and put tension on your shoulders. If you are significantly taller than average, this is more often the reason why one size doesn't work than your waist or hip size. A two-piece alternative or a tight dress is then a wiser choice, for example, the Wetlook Dress Tight TL102 (€ 24.95).

When to choose a specific size

Some of our offerings do have a real size indication, and this is not an unnecessary luxury. The Bodystocking TL141 Black in size M/L (€ 19.95) is more precisely tailored than a one-size model. At the other end of the range is the Maid Set TL85 in size 3XL (€ 24.95).

Rule of thumb: if your measurements are at the edge of what one size can handle, or if you want to be sure that the item won't be tight, choose the model with a concrete size. Stretching to the extreme is precisely when threads tear or the pattern becomes transparent in places where it shouldn't.

Open or closed: the difference is also in the fit

Models are offered as closed versions or with openings. This difference is not only aesthetic: a closed model fits tighter over the entire body and distributes tension more evenly, while an open model pulls more at the edges of the opening. In our range, you will find examples of both variants: the Tight Bodystocking TL18 (€ 19.95) as a closed model, and the Open Bodystocking TL15 Black and its red version (both € 19.95) as open variants. The Open Breast Bodystocking TL20 (€ 19.95) comes in a gift box.

Fishnet, wetlook or smooth knit

The design determines how the piece drapes and how delicate it is.

  • Fishnet. Coarse pattern, lots of stretch, and most susceptible to snagging: a ring, a nail, or a rough cuticle is enough for a run. Example: the Open Fishnet Bodystocking TL17 (€ 19.95).
  • Fine knit. Denser pattern, less sheer, slightly less stretch. Examples: Bodystocking TL14 and Bodystocking TL61 (both € 19.95).
  • Wetlook. Smooth, shiny material that behaves differently: less stretch in length, no runs but sensitive to sharp edges and heat.

If you're looking for color instead of black, the Bodystocking Blue (€ 19.95) and the Tight Dress TL62 in rainbow colors (€ 19.95) are the exceptions in an otherwise predominantly black range.

Roleplay sets: check what's in the box

In addition to individual bodystockings, we sell compiled themed sets, such as the Nurse Set TL87, the Maid Set TL91, the Waitress Set TL97 and the Bunny Set TL79 (all € 24.95). Such sets consist of multiple parts, but not every part shown in the photo is included – stockings, shoes, and accessories are often sold separately. Therefore, read the list on the product page instead of relying on the image.

Most sets come in a gift box, which is convenient if it's a present. Some items are supplied in bulk packaging, without a color box; this is then stated in the product title and affects the presentation, not the product itself.

Putting on without snags

The moment most damage occurs is when putting it on. What helps:

  1. Remove rings and check your nails for rough edges.
  2. Roll up the garment like you would roll up tights, and work from bottom to top.
  3. Pull on the material itself, not on the seams.
  4. Distribute the fabric evenly as you go, instead of pulling it all up at once.

Washing and storing

Elastic fine knits last longest with hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Wringing, high temperatures, and the tumble dryer are the three things that will cause the elastic thread to lose its elasticity fastest. Let the item dry flat or hanging, out of direct sunlight and not on the heater. Store it separately from clothing with hooks, zippers, or Velcro – in a small bag or box in the drawer, you will prevent most snags. Always follow the washing label if it deviates from this general advice.
