A gift for those who love all things spooky: pins, masks, and glasses

Gothic, gore, and camp are three different tastes—and one wrong gift will end up in the drawer. Here's how to choose based on wearability, size, and price, with concrete examples.
Someone with a shelf full of horror movies, a black jacket full of pins, or a birthday in mid-October: you know they'd appreciate a spooky gift, but not what kind. And that's exactly where things go wrong. Gothic (black, hearts, coffins, neatly finished), gore (blood, eyeballs, as gross as possible), and camp (pumpkins, glow in the dark, meant to be funny) are three tastes that rarely overlap. Someone who likes the first will stash the second in a drawer.
Below is a way to choose that doesn't involve guessing, with items currently in stock and their corresponding prices.
First, choose the type of gift, then the theme
Spooky gifts fall into three practical groups, and these determine more than just the theme.
Wearable — pins, badges, keychains. Small, no size needed, and the recipient decides how visible it becomes. This is the safest choice if you don't know their taste precisely.
Utilitarian — glasses, mugs. Actually used, but visible: the style here must match the rest of the house.
Single-use — masks, decorations, fake blood. Fun around October 31st, but then it sits idle for eleven months. Only buy if the recipient really enjoys dressing up.
In doubt? Pick something wearable from the first group and keep the price low. An €8 gift worn weekly on a bag performs better than a €40 mask used for one evening.
Under €10: pins and keychains
Metal pins are the workhorse of these types of gifts. They fit on a jacket, bag, or backpack, are inexpensive, and distinct enough individually to combine two or three into one gift.
Two pins in the same style already make a gift for just under €16. If you want to go the gore route, you can combine the €4.95 keychain with the bloodshot eyeball keychain for €7.95: one for keys, one for a bag. If you prefer gothic with a wink, the "Don't Cut My Heart" pin and the "You're Dreamy" horror pin complement each other well, both €7.95.
For the table: glasses and mugs
A utilitarian item is a more pleasant gift than decoration, as it naturally re-enters daily routine. However, the larger the item, the heavier the style weighs. The Halloween skeleton glasses at €9.95 are clearly seasonal and will sit in the cupboard all year if someone isn't a true fan. More neutral in use, but with the same dark humor, is the Squid Game mug of 325 ml for €8.00.
For these types of items, always check what is stated on the product page: capacity in milliliters, dimensions, material. If nothing is mentioned about dishwasher or microwave, don't assume it's suitable — wash such items by hand if in doubt.
If you want to spend more
Above €10, you'll find items primarily related to dressing up. The luxury black rabbit mask at €12.00 and the glow-in-the-dark pirate skeleton mask at €9.95 are in a price range where you can easily give them as a fun extra. The bunny mask with LED lighting at €39.95 is a different story: that's a gift for someone who actually goes to parties, not just watches movies. The model is adjustable, which makes it much more likely to fit than a fixed mask.
Size in centimeters. For pins, the difference between 2 and 4 cm is significant. A small pin disappears on a thick winter coat, a large one is too heavy for a thin shirt.
Stock. Some items have a hundred in stock, others four. There are currently few skeleton glasses; you don't order such gifts two days before a birthday.
Material. Metal, plastic, glass: it's usually stated. Only assume what's written and don't fill in the rest yourself.
The full range of pins can be found in Pins & Badges, seasonal items in the Halloween collection, and small pendants in Keychains. If you're mainly looking for something humorous, check Funny Gifts; you can get the accompanying box from Gift Packaging & Gift Boxes.
