When ordering funny candy for a bachelor party, the quantity and price per kilo are usually where things go wrong. This guide crunches the numbers and compares bags, kilo-packs, and lollipops.
When planning a bachelorette party, candy is usually the last thing ordered, and it goes one of two ways: there's a kilo of licorice left that no one touches, or there are three lollipops for twelve guests. Both can be avoided with five minutes of calculations beforehand. Below is what you specifically need to know before checking out — this article is about adult-themed items, intended for a private gathering.
First, convert the number of guests to grams
Candy at a party typically serves two functions. Either it's in bowls on the table and eaten throughout the evening, or it's a distribution moment: everyone gets one item and that's it. That distinction completely determines your order.
Distribution (one piece per guest): Count the number of guests, add two for latecomers, and order that amount. Lollipops and individual bags work best here.
On the table (all evening): Calculate approximately 50 to 75 grams per person for an afternoon or evening. For twelve guests, that's 600 to 900 grams — so one kilo, not three.
Combination: Keep the table candy modest and invest in one striking item for the distribution moment.
Don't underestimate how much will be left over. Funny candy is often mostly photographed and only half-eaten; that's precisely why you shouldn't overbuy.
Bags or a kilo? Calculate per 100 grams
The price difference between individual bags and a kilo-pack is greater than it seems. The comparison based on our own prices:
The kilo is roughly half the price per 100 grams compared to the smallest package. This is only a saving if you use up that kilo or divide it. If you organize parties for multiple groups, or want to give leftovers in bags, the kilo is the logical choice. For a party of eight people, it's not.
Licorice is firm, keeps well, and has a strong flavor — not everyone likes it. So don't order licorice as the only option. See Breast Licorice Candy 150 grams, 2 pieces (€ 14.95).
Hard candy and lollipops last the longest and are easiest to distribute. They are also the most photogenic when everyone is holding one.
Chocolate is the most delicate choice: it melts in the heat and breaks when transported in a bag. Store it in a cool, dark place.
Candy is food, which means there are a few things you really need to check before distributing it to a group:
Ingredient list and allergens. Is there anything in it that someone in the group is allergic to? Ask in the group chat beforehand; that's less awkward than on the day itself.
Gelatin. Gummy candy often contains animal-derived gelatin. If you have vegetarian or vegan guests, check the packaging and provide an alternative.
Expiration date. If you order well in advance, check that the date is beyond the party date — especially for a kilo that you want to divide over several occasions.
Storage advice. Storing in a cool, dry place is not a luxury for licorice and gummy, and necessary for chocolate.
Something outside of candy: products with an explicit shape are intended for adults in a private setting. In a workplace, restaurant, or anywhere children are present, it's not a good idea. A bachelor party in a rented space may also have house rules; asking in advance saves trouble.
Transport and presentation
A kilo of loose candy in a large bag doesn't look good on the table. Divide it into small bowls, or make a small bag for each guest — that also works as a thank-you at the end of the day. Don't carry the candy in a warm car for hours beforehand, and don't place gummy and chocolate in the sun on a windowsill.
First, decide whether you're distributing or putting it on the table, then convert to grams, and only then compare the price per 100 grams. The full range is available in Erotic Food, Lollipop, and Candy; everything else for the day can be found in Bachelor Party. Doubting quantities for a larger group or want to know what's in stock?
