What do you put on your product page? The specifications that save questions and returns

Every customer question you receive twice should be on your product page. This way you specify size, quantity, material, and variant so that you receive fewer emails and fewer returns.
A customer emails: "Will my product, 24 by 16 centimeters, fit into that letterbox box?" You check it, type a reply, and three days later someone else asks the exact same question. That's not customer service; that's a gap in your product page. Every question you get twice belongs in the text below your photos.
Packaging material is a good training ground, because it almost always comes down to the same things: size, quantity, material, and variation. Getting these four right will keep your inbox empty and your return rate low. Below, we'll go through them, with examples from our own assortment that you can easily adopt for your own webshop.
Put the size in the title, not just in the description
For products where size is the buying argument, the size belongs in the title. Not because it looks good, but because search results and overview pages often only show the title. Someone scrolling through twenty boxes doesn't want to click twenty times.
Two practical agreements that make a big difference:
Choose one unit per product group. Millimeters or centimeters, not mixed. Cardboard Shipping Box 15x15x15 cm - White (€ 1.99) in centimeters is fine, as long as your entire box category does that.
Always maintain the order length × width × height, and specify which you mean. For cardboard, the difference between inner and outer dimensions can quickly be a few millimeters—just enough for a product not to fit.
Quantity and price per item: the question behind the question
As soon as you sell in bundles, things go wrong if the quantity isn't visible. Someone sees €24.00 and thinks of one box, when there are a hundred. Or vice versa: someone expects a hundred pieces and receives six.
For items sold by length, the same principle applies with a different unit. Bubble Wrap Roll 500 mm x 500 m Transparent (€ 12.95) states the width and roll length in the title. Without those two numbers, no one can calculate if it's enough for a quarter.
Variants: state what the buyer *does* choose
Colors, models, and size variants are the biggest source of confusion. The buyer wants to know: do I choose myself, or do I get something assigned? That's one sentence on your page, and it saves you a return.
What is it for? One line: "suitable for jewelry, cosmetics, and small accessories". People buy based on application, not material.
What is *not* included? If a box is delivered flat and you fold it yourself, say so. If there's no filling included, say that too.
How is it delivered? Loose, in a bundle, or in an outer carton. This prevents disappointment with large quantities.
Material and weight: short, factual, without adjectives
"Sturdy" and "high-quality" say nothing. Cardboard, plastic, silicone, metal—that says something. Name the material in one word and omit the rest. If you know something about the measurable quality, such as single-wall or double-wall cardboard, include that; if you're unsure, leave it out rather than making something plausible up. An incorrect claim will cost you more later than it yields.
Weight is the element most often missing, while it determines everything for shipping. Weigh your items once, including packaging, and put that number on the page. For an Action Moving Box 480x430x330 mm - 50 liters (€ 3.50), the volume in liters is just as useful as the dimensions: people think in "how many boxes do I need" when moving, not in centimeters.
A fixed order works better than a beautiful text
Buyers scan, they don't read. Therefore, use the same structure on every product page: first one line about what it's for, then a list of specifications, then the running text. Someone comparing three of your products will immediately see what's different.
A workable standard list for packaging items:
Field
Example
Dimensions
180 x 115 x 28 mm (inner dimensions)
Quantity
100 pieces per bundle
Material
recycled cardboard
Variant
3 colors, delivered assorted
Weight
per piece, including packaging
Application
letterbox package up to 3.2 cm thick
Then review your ten best-selling products and fill in the gaps. That's an hour's work, and you'll notice it in your inbox within two weeks.
