A bachelor or bachelorette party outside the home stands or falls on logistics: what goes in the bag, what stays home, and who carries what? A practical division into three bags, with games and decorations that work on the go.

A bachelorette party at home is manageable: everything is on the table, and if you forget something, you can just get it from the cupboard. If you go out – a day in the city, an escape room, a boat trip, renting a house – the game changes. Everything you bring has to fit in a bag, must remain intact during transport, and at the end of the day, it also needs somewhere to go.

Most miscalculations are not in the program itself, but in the logistics surrounding it. Below is a practical breakdown: what to bring, how to pack it, and what to leave at home.

Divide your belongings into three bags

If one person carries everything, that person will spend the entire day guarding and searching. Therefore, work with three clear piles, each with its own carrier.

  • The decorations — everything the group puts on or receives upon arrival. This comes out in the first ten minutes, and after that, the bag doesn't need to be opened again.
  • The program — games, assignments, prizes. Comes out for each part and immediately goes back in.
  • The practical bag — water, chargers, plasters, bin bag, cash. Stays with the same person all day.

That third bag is the one most often overlooked and most sorely missed. A 3000 mAh power bank (€14.95) keeps the phone with the route, tickets, and photos working. A foldable drinking bottle with carabiner for €7.95 folds flat when empty and hangs from a loop. And a 150 ml bottle of hand sanitiser (€2.95) is small enough not to think twice about.

Decorations: one item per person, not five

On the go, less is more. A complete costume for ten people means ten people who take it off after an hour and hand it to you. Instead, choose one recognisable item per person, plus something extra for the person being celebrated.

Masks do the job well because they are small and not hot to wear. A black Venetian mask costs €5.95 and fits in a jacket pocket; for a larger group, cardboard masks in 4 designs, 6 pieces for €1.95 are the cheapest way to give everyone the same thing at once. For the main person, something that stands out in a photo works better than something that stands out in the mirror: a white angel halo tiara for €14.95 or a funny cap with breasts in one size for €14.95.

A small pin or button is the most underestimated option: it weighs nothing, goes on any jacket, and survives the whole day. Consider a banana pin for parties (€7.95).

What works and doesn't work in a public space

How exuberant you make it depends on where you are. More is possible in a rented house or private room than in a restaurant, a museum, or a train compartment. A few practical considerations:

  • Confetti and poppers: great for photos, but you clean them up yourself. A 28 cm party popper (€7.95) should be saved for when you are in your own space, not for the pavement in front of a venue.
  • Inflatables: take up almost no space when empty and are therefore ideal to bring along — provided you inflate them on site. An inflatable battle set of 2 pieces costs €19.95 and fits folded in a shoulder bag.
  • Glass: leave it at home. If you want to toast, bring a set of 6 shot glasses of 60 ml (€3.00) and wrap them in a tea towel in the middle of the bag.
  • Drinks: check in advance whether it is allowed at the location. Many venues, boats, and escape rooms have their own rules about bringing drinks.

Games that fit in a jacket pocket

A board game does not come along. What does come along is small, weatherproof, and without loose parts that you might lose. A set of mini poker playing cards with 54 cards costs €1.95 and fits in an inside pocket. XXL beer game dice, 2 pieces (€9.95) work on any table and can be explained in two steps. If you have your own space available, a Ring Toss game for €14.95 is a game that people keep playing intermittently without anyone needing to take the lead.

Small sweets do better on the go than a cake or something that needs to be chilled: Tiktak sweets in 4 flavours (18 grams) cost €3.00 each, and lollipops in 4 models of 50 grams cost €3.95. Handy as a handout between two program parts, and nothing melts in your bag.

The gift and cleanup: arrange it beforehand

Two things determine how the day ends. The first is the gift: if the group gives something together, you don't want it loose in a bag all day. A sturdy box with a handle works better than a bag with paper — the yellow treat box with handle measuring 15x8x8 cm costs €2.99 and is both the packaging and the carrier bag. A small souvenir, such as a set of 3 keychains for €3.95, is inexpensive and lasts longer than most jokes from that day.

The second is the cleanup. Bring one foldable box or bag where everything you take home at the end goes: masks, leftover sweets, items you want to reuse. A moving box of 480 x 430 x 330 mm (50 litres) for €3.50 can be transported flat in the car and collects everything at the end of the day in one go. If you are in a rented space, this also saves time during handover.

And one agreement beforehand, which eliminates most annoyance: agree on who carries which bag and who takes it home at the end. Then no one has to search for a bag of masks at 1:30 AM.

Briefly summarized

  • Three bags, three carriers: decorations, program, practical.
  • One recognizable item per person; save the extravagant for the main person.
  • Glass and confetti only at your own location.
  • Games that fit in a jacket pocket and can be explained in two sentences.
  • One box or bag for the return journey, assigned beforehand.
