Rings, sleeves, pumps, and masturbators all serve different purposes. This guide compares the four categories by size, operation, maintenance, and price, so you'll know which best suits your needs before ordering.
Anyone looking around the 18+ section of an assortment for the first time will see hundreds of items that look very similar in product photos. For men, they roughly fall into four groups: rings, sleeves, pumps, and masturbators. All four do something different, all four demand different things from you in terms of size and cleaning, and they vary considerably in price. Below, they are listed side-by-side, along with the questions you should answer before ordering.
The four categories at a glance
This is the broad classification. The prices are for the items listed later in this article; more options exist within each category.

Cockrings: size is half the battle
With a ring, it's almost entirely about size. Too loose and it slips off, too tight and you'll put it away after five minutes. Since most people don't know their size, a set with multiple rings is a more sensible first purchase than a single ring: you compare at once and find the size that fits.
Vibrating Cockring Black — €9.95, batteries included, so you don't need to order anything separately.
Practical tip: start on the looser side, adhere to the usage time in the manual, and stop immediately if it becomes uncomfortable. Rinse the ring after use and let it dry before storing it.
Sleeves and extenders: read the length in the title carefully
For sleeves and extenders, the length is usually simply in the product name. Important: that is the total length of the sleeve and nothing else. A 13.5 cm sleeve is therefore shorter than an 18.5 cm one — how much of that remains depends on how far it slides over.
A sleeve without lubricant on the inside will be dry and won't slide. So, expect to order lubricant with it. Afterward, turn flexible sleeves inside out as much as possible to rinse and dry them properly; that's exactly why thin, pliable models are easier to keep clean than thick, stiff ones.
Pumps: seal, operation, and whether you can read the pressure
A pump consists of three parts that can wear out separately: the cylinder, the sleeve or ring that creates the seal, and the operation. Manually operated models work with a handle or ball; electric models run on a rechargeable battery or disposable batteries.
The sleeve is a wear part: if the seal weakens, it's often the sleeve and not the entire pump. Build up pressure slowly, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and stop if you experience pain or discomfort.
Masturbators: weight, opening, and how to dry it
Roughly, there are three types: open models (cups and sleeves that you can rinse from both ends), closed models with one opening, and automatic models with a motor. The biggest difference you'll notice in practice is weight: you hold 500 grams differently than a light cup.
With soft materials, expect maintenance: rinse, allow to dry completely, and only then store. For models with a motor or battery, also ensure you do not submerge the control section unless the manual explicitly states it is allowed.
What to order with it and often forget
Three things make the difference between something that comes out of the box once and something you keep using.
Power. Check if batteries are included or if the model charges via USB, so you don't find yourself without AAA batteries on a Saturday night.
What does a complete set cost?

So choose your category not by the photo but by the question you have: do you want something that stays on (ring), something you put over it (sleeve), something with a cylinder and controls (pump), or something you move into (masturbator)? That will save you from a bad purchase and a drawer full of items used only once.
