Fun item or practical item? That's how you read the 18+ assortment

The 18+ assortment consists of two families: party items with a wink and products that you use and clean more frequently. You can see which category something falls into at seven points on the product page.

An order contains a penis ice cube tray for €7.95 and a vibrator for €39.95. That's not an odd combination — it happens daily. Still, they are two completely different types of items, with different expectations, different maintenance, and different return policies. The confusion only arises when you order one and expect the other: a gift intended for a laugh, but which the recipient thought was serious. Or vice versa.

The 18+ assortment broadly consists of two families. One family is fun: party items with a wink, meant for an evening, a table, a photo. The other is a consumable item: products you use more often, clean, and store. Below you can read how to tell them apart before checking out.

Why the difference matters

Three reasons. Firstly, the recipient's expectation: a joke gift that is unwrapped seriously goes wrong, and vice versa. Secondly, maintenance: a fun item is usually discarded afterwards or put in a cupboard, while a consumable item requires cleaning, charging or batteries, and a dry, dust-free storage place. Thirdly, the costs after purchase: a consumable item often comes with a cleaner and lubricant, whereas a fun item does not.

Practically: a Toy Cleaner Spray 150 ml for €8.95 and a bottle of 100 ml natural water-based lubricant for €4.00 belong to the second category. With a set of penis straws for €5.00, you don't need them.

Seven signals on the product page

You don't have to be an expert. These seven points will almost always tell you which family an item belongs to:

  1. Material. Does it say silicone, ABS, or TPE? Then it's probably a consumable item. Does it say paper, cardboard, PVC film, ceramic, polyresin, or 'made of sugar'? Then it's for fun.
  2. Dimensions. Consumable items list length, insertable length, and diameter. Fun items usually only list an outer dimension or nothing at all.
  3. Power. Batteries, USB rechargeable, settings or functions indicate a consumable item. No mention of power usually means fun — with the exception of LED gadgets.
  4. Cleaning. Is there anything about cleaning, drying, or storing? That's the clearest signal of all.
  5. Set contents and quantities. 'Set of 10', '6 pieces', '100 pieces' indicates consumables for a party. One piece with a detailed description indicates a consumable item.
  6. Price range. Under €10 is almost always fun or a small basic item. Above €25, you're almost always in the consumable category.
  7. The category it's in. Items from Erotic Fun Products and Erotic Food are party items. Items from Lubricant and Toy Cleaners are consumables that belong with use.

The fun side: what to look for

Fun items are cheap, visual, and often for single use. That's not a criticism — that's exactly what they're made for. Pay particular attention to three things.

Quantities. Calculate per guest, not per package. A set of ten straws is enough for ten people, but if the evening is long, more will be used. The same goes for candy: 18-gram Tiktak penis candies cost €3.00 each; for a table of twelve, you'll need to count more.

Food contact. Anything that comes into contact with food or drink deserves a look at the description: a silicone penis ice cube tray for €7.95 is intended for the freezer, a decorative polyresin item is not.

What you have left. A set of five penis candles for €7.95 is used up after one evening. A party game for €14.95 or an erotic dice for €4.95 can be used more often. Calculate the price per use if you're in doubt.

The usage side: material, maintenance, and what goes with it

For a consumable item, three other things matter: what it's made of, how you clean it, and what you still need to order.

Question Fun item Consumable item
Material mentioned? Often general (plastic, cardboard) Specific (silicone, ABS, TPE)
Sizes mentioned? Rarely or only outer dimension Length, diameter, sometimes insertable length
Requires power? No (or loose button cell) Batteries or USB rechargeable
Maintenance Rinse or discard Clean, dry, store separately
Additional needs Nothing Cleaner, lubricant, sometimes batteries
Typical price €2.00 to €15.00 €8.00 to €50.00 and higher

An entry-level model often falls into the lowest price range of the second column: a 12 cm mini vibrator costs €9.95, a 13.3 cm battery-operated wand vibrator €7.95, and a mini wand vibrator with four attachments €4.50. These seem like fun prices, but they are consumable items: they require batteries and you clean them after use. Such low price points are precisely where people make mistakes.

So, for a consumable item, always include the additional costs. A bottle of 150 ml water-based lubricant costs €4.15 and a 120 ml odorless toy cleaner costs €7.95. Together with an item for €9.95, you end up at over €22.00 — still not expensive, but three times the price you had in mind.

When you combine them in one gift

Most orders contain both. This works well, as long as you present the gift in the correct order: the fun item visibly, the consumable item in the neutral box underneath. This way, the recipient decides what to open in company.

Useful intermediate forms also exist. A satin eye mask for €2.95 can be used as a sleep mask and as an accessory. A 100 ml coconut massage oil in a squeeze bottle for €9.95 reads as care and works as care. And a porcelain mug for €7.95 or a piggy bank for €19.95 will continue to be used after the party.

Four checks before you pay

  • Is there a material name on the page? If not, assume it's a fun item.
  • Is there anything about cleaning or charging? Then maintenance is required.
  • Does the quantity match the number of people using it?
  • Have you included the additional items — cleaner, lubricant, batteries — in your budget?

Four questions, thirty seconds of work, and you'll know what's in the box before it's on the table.

Choose yourself

If you want to dress up an evening, look at Erotic Fun Products, Erotic Games, and Erotic Food. If you're looking for something you'll use more often, start with Eroticism and immediately grab something from Lubricant and Toy Cleaners.
